Abstract

English is one of the important things in today's world of education, especially in the environment of Islamic boarding schools that have begun to realize that mastery of foreign languages is very important. Al Iman Putri Islamic Boarding School applies the English Camp program as one of the efforts to improve students' English language skills in a more contextual and fun context. This program is based on the need to create a language environment that is more supportive of learning and strengthens English language learning.
The purpose of this study is to find out the types of activities carried out in the English Camp program and to find out the perception of teachers and students towards the implementation of the program at the Al Iman Putri Islamic Boarding School. This research is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the implementation of English Camp and its effectiveness in supporting the English learning process in the pesantren environment. The researcher also wants to know what problems occur in the implementation of the program and wants to know what solutions are provided by the school to the problems that occur.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of English teachers and students who participated in English Camp activities. The data obtained was analysed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and a conclusion drawn.
As a result of the research, it was found that the English Camp Program of the Al Iman Putri Islamic Boarding School included several activities designed to improve students' English language skills, either speaking, listening, reading, or writing. Activities such as video shadowing, storytelling, being a reporter, reading short texts, and writing personal experiences and speeches are carried out in a fun learning atmosphere. For teachers and students to give a positive response to this program; The teacher estimates that the activity can increase the confidence and speaking ability of the students, while the students feel that the learning is applicable and motivates them to be more active in using English. However, there are several obstacles such as the short program time, the lack of experienced tutors, and the lack of consistency in the use of English by students remains a problem, solutions for the next English camp activities by adjusting the activity time, procurement of quality tutors, and continuous motivation so that students are accustomed to using English.
