Abstract
Digital storytelling is presented as a powerful educational tool that combines narrative and multimedia elements to enhance the learning experience, particularly in teaching students' speaking skills. The thesis explores how digital storytelling implemented in teaching speaking skills. It also touches upon the success of Language Centre, an English course institution, which incorporates digital storytelling into its teaching method to help their students have a great ability in speaking skills.
This research aims to investigate the implementation of digital storytelling in teaching speaking skills and to identify the students’ perceptions on the implementation of digital storytelling in teaching speaking skills.
This research used qualitative descriptive at EMP 54 A Language Centre Pare Kediri to describe a phenomenon and its characteristics. The participants of this study were the teacher and students EMP 54 A Language Centre Pare involve the speaking class using DST. Data collection methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analysed through the stages data reduction, data display, and conclusions.
The findings of the research show that; (1) the implementation of digital storytelling at EMP 54 A Language Centre Pare has been implemented well by the teacher in classroom including encompassing comprehensive preparation, the integration of digital storytelling into interactive learning activities, and a reflective closing session demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing both students’ engagement and speaking competence. (2) The implementation of digital storytelling in process of teaching speaking received positive responses from students EMP 54 A Language Centre Pare in resulting great score of speaking skills assessment.
