Keywords: Sorogan method, Parental role, Qur’anic reading ability.
Religious education, particularly in learning to read the Qur’an, is one of the essential foundations in building children's character from an early age. The Qur’an not only serves as a holy book and guidance for Muslims, but also as a primary source of moral values, ethics, and Islamic way of life. In the learning process, many methods can be applied, one of which is the sorogan method. Additionally, parents play a crucial role in the development of children's Qur’anic reading abilities. Based on initial observations at TPA An-Nur, it was found that some students still struggle to read the Qur’an fluently, lack understanding of tajwid rules, and mispronounce hijaiyah letters, which indicates issues with proper articulation and Articulation points of the letters.
This research aims to address these issues by investigating: (1) whether the sorogan method has a significant effect on the Qur’anic reading ability of students at TPA An-Nur Ngrayun Ponorogo, (2) whether parental involvement significantly influences the Qur’anic reading ability of students at TPA An-Nur Ngrayun Ponorogo, and (3) whether both the sorogan method and parental involvement simultaneously have a significant effect on students’ Qur’anic reading abilities at TPA An-Nur Ngrayun Ponorogo. This study is expected to provide insights into the implementation of the sorogan method and highlight the importance of parental support in Qur’anic education for children.
This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational type, aiming to determine the relationship between two or more variables and how strong that relationship is. Data collection techniques include questionnaires to measure the sorogan method and parental role variables, tests to assess students' Qur’anic reading abilities, and documentation to gather institutional data such as the organization's vision, mission, and history. The total population and sample of the study consist of 37 students; due to the small population size, the saturated sampling technique was used. The data analysis techniques include validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, and the coefficient of determination.
Based on data analysis, it was found that: (1) The sorogan method has a significant effect on the Qur’anic reading ability of students at TPA An-Nur Ngrayun Ponorogo, with a contribution of 31.5%. (2) Parental involvement significantly affects the Qur’anic reading ability of students, contributing 24%. (3) Both the sorogan method and parental involvement simultaneously have a significant effect on the Qur’anic reading ability of students, with a combined contribution of 40%. This indicates that the better the implementation of the sorogan method and the more active the parental involvement, the better the students’ Qur’anic reading proficiency
