Technological advancements and the rapid development of social media have significantly impacted the behavior of Generation Z, including students at MA Sulamul Huda Siwalan Ponorogo. Phenomena such as truancy, cheating, procrastination, profanity, and lying indicate signs of character decline. In this context, Akidah Akhlak teachers play a strategic role as moral educators, tasked with providing role models, guidance, and relevant learning strategies to instill the values of honesty and responsibility in students.
This study aims to describe in depth the strategies of Akidah Akhlak teachers in building honest and responsible character in generation Z students at MA Sulamul Huda, as well as to reveal the factors that influence the success of teachers in the character development process. This objective is formulated based on the formulation of the problem that includes three main things, namely teacher strategies in forming honest character, teacher strategies in forming responsible character, and internal and external factors that influence the process of character formation of students.
The research used a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Akidah Akhlak teachers, the madrasah principal, and students. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. To ensure data validity, the researcher used source triangulation, technical triangulation, and cross-checking with informants. The research location was MA Sulamul Huda Siwalan, Ponorogo.
The results of the study show that: (1) The implementation of teachers in building honest character is carried out through role models in telling the truth, implementing disciplinary rules, coaching when students lie, and building open communication between teachers and students. (2) The implementation of teachers in building responsible character is carried out by helping students complete assignments on time, getting used to class duty, providing educational consequences, and motivating students to be responsible for school assignments and the mandate given. (3) Factors that influence character formation include internal factors in the form of self-motivation, habits, and emotions of students while external factors are in the form of peer influence, family environment, and the very strong development of digital technology.
