Abstract
Learning and curriculum are the components which can’t be separated. The recent curriculum is Merdeka curriculum that independent learning programs begins with freedom of thought that must start from the teacher. This case makes the teachers find some obstacles because of lack of preparation and the limitation of the government guidance related in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum.
The research question of this study are: 1) how is the implementation of English learning process in Merdeka Curriculum based on the teacher’s experiences at SMA Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, 2) what are the problems in implementing the English learning process in Merdeka Curriculum based on the teacher’s experiences at at SMA Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, 3) The are the solutions in facing the problems in implementing the English learning process in Merdeka Curriculum based on the teacher’s experiences at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo.This study aims to describe the learning process, the problems and the solutions in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo.
This study composed by using descriptive qualitative design with study case approach. The data was gained from interview, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique by data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The data validity check by triangulation technique.
The result of this research there are several steps in conducting the learning process as following learning and assessment planning, implementation of learning and assessment, processing assessment result, and reporting the assessment result. In implementing learning and assessment. The problem faced by the teachers are that they have to readapt to the new curriculum system amid the lack of technical guidance from the government. So, they have minimal readiness to implement the Merdeka curriculum. The lack of information also results in students and parents also having to readapt to the implementation of this curriculum. The solutions are to actively participate in training and workshops on the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum, especially by teachers and related education personnel so that learning goals can be achieved.
