Abstract
Education plays an essential role in shaping quality human beings. In the learning process, student engagement is a crucial factor that determines its success. Theoretically, students who are actively engaged in learning tend to show participation, attention, and high motivation, which positively influence their learning outcomes and character development. However, in practice, many students still demonstrate low engagement, such as limited participation in discussions, low attendance, and a lack of confidence during learning activities. This condition highlights a gap between theory and the reality in the field. One of the contributing factors is learning that has not yet accommodated students’ diverse intelligence potentials. If this situation persists, it may lead to decreased motivation, lower learning outcomes, and suboptimal development of students’ potential. Therefore, a learning approach that can accommodate individual differences is needed, one of which is the Multiple Intelligences approach, which is believed to enhance students’ engagement in Al-Qur’an Hadith learning.
This study aims to describe the influence of Multiple Intelligences on the learning engagement of eleventh-grade students in the Al-Qur’an Hadith subject at MA Miftahul Ulum Madiun in the 2024/2025 academic year.
This study employed a quantitative approach with a predictive correlational design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students of MA Miftahul Ulum Madiun in the 2024/2025 academic year, and the sample comprised 25 students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a Multiple Intelligences questionnaire and a student learning engagement questionnaire, both structured using a Likert scale. The obtained data were analyzed using simple linear regression to determine the relationship as well as the predictive power of Multiple Intelligences on students’ learning engagement.
The results showed that the significance value (<0.001) was less than α (0.05), indicating that Multiple Intelligences had a significant effect on students’ learning engagement, with a coefficient of determination of 0.476 or 47.6%.
