Abstract
This study explores the impact of multimodal learning on the reading comprehension and speaking skills of tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Jetis. Multimodal learning combines text, images, audio, and movement to enhance engagement and understanding, especially useful in EFL settings with limited language exposure.
A quasi-experimental method was used, involving 20 students in the experimental class and 18 in the control class. Data were collected through tests and analyzed using the independent sample t-test.
Results showed a significant difference between the groups (p-value = 0.000). The experimental group gained moderately in reading comprehension (N-Gain = 0.31) and slightly in speaking (N-Gain = 0.22), while the control group showed minimal or negative improvement. In conclusion, multimodal learning had a positive and significant effect, especially on students’ reading comprehension and speaking skills.
