Pantun writing is very important to learn in elementary school, especially in grade 5. This activity develops language skills and encourages students to appreciate literary works through beautiful word choices. Pantun writing effectively forms a character-based personality, as it functions as a means of entertainment while also teaching moral and ethical values.
This study aims to describe (1) the implementation of the Make a Match model assisted by Monotun media in improving pantun writing skills in grade 5 students at SDIT Qurrota A'yun Ponorogo; (2) the pantun writing skills of grade 5 students at SDIT Qurrota A'yun Ponorogo after using the Make a Match model assisted by Monotun media; (3) Describe the effectiveness of the Make a Match learning model assisted by Monotun media in improving pantun writing skills in grade 5 students at SDIT Qurrota A'yun Ponorogo.
This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Design. Data collection through observation of learning implementation and pretest-posttest. Samples with cluster sampling: 25 students from class 5 Utsman bin Affan as the experiment, 24 students from class 5 Abu Bakar as the control. Data were processed using the Mann-Whitney and N-Gain tests.
The results of this study (1) the implementation of the Make A Match model assisted by Monotun media is in very good category with a percentage of 95% from the teacher's percentage and 96% from the student's activity percentage, sequentially starting from the introduction, core activities, and closing; (2) the ability to write pantun using the Make A Match model assisted by Monotun media obtained an average pretest result of 77.96 and an average posttest of 90.00. Thus, students' pantun writing ability after using the Make A Match model assisted by Monotun media has increased; (3) Learning using the Make A Match model assisted by Monotun media is effective in improving the ability to write pantun of grade 5 students at SDIT Qurrota A'yun Ponorogo. This is proven through the Mann-Whitney test which produces a sig. value of 0.011 (<0.05), so there is a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. In addition, the N-Gain test in the experimental class obtained a result of 62.43% with the criteria of being quite effective (medium category).
