The current problems in Islamic Religious Education are not only related to religious knowledge, but also to the weak strengthening of humanitarian values and social justice. This is evident in the low level of tolerance, respect for differences, and the existence of discriminatory treatment in education. Therefore, a study of Gus Dur's thoughts, which emphasize humanitarian values and social justice in life and education, is necessary.
This study aims to: 1) explain Gus Dur's concept of humanitarian values, 2) explain Gus Dur's concept of justice, and 3) analyze the contribution of Gus Dur's thought to Islamic Religious Education.
This study uses a qualitative approach with library research. The primary data source comes from the book "Prisma Pikiran Gus Dur," while secondary data comes from relevant books and journals. Data collection techniques used documentation and were analyzed using content analysis.
Based on the data analysis, it was found that: 1) Gus Dur's humanitarian values include respect for human dignity, tolerance, pluralism, and advocacy for minority groups; 2) justice values include substantive justice, protection of basic human rights, and anti-discrimination; and 3) Gus Dur's thoughts are relevant to the development of humanistic, inclusive, tolerant, and socially just Islamic Religious Education.
