Abstract
Responsibility is a reflection of good personality and is an important part of shaping the character of students. However, the phenomenon occurring at Darul Falah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School shows that there are still some students who have not fully reflected the responsibility of caring for the environment. This condition certainly indicates that even though the boarding school implements the Eco-Pesantren program, the responsibility of students to care for the environment has not been optimally formed. In addition, students' self-awareness in caring for the environment also still needs to be improved. Therefore, an empirical study is needed to determine the contribution of Islamic ecology and self-awareness to students' responsibility in caring for the environment.
The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of Islamic ecology on the responsibility of students in maintaining the environment at Darul Falah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School in the 2025/2026 academic year, the influence of self-awareness on the responsibility of students in maintaining the environment at Darul Falah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School in the 2025/2026 academic year, and the influence of Islamic ecology and self-awareness on the responsibility of students in maintaining the environment at Darul Falah Sukorejo Islamic Boarding School in the 2025/2026 academic year.
This study uses quantitative research with the type of multiple ex post facto. The data collection technique uses questionnaires. The population of this study is the students of Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah with a sample size of 84 students. The data analysis used simple linear regression and multiple linear regression to determine the magnitude of the effect of each independent variable on the dependent variable.
The research results show that Islamic ecology significantly affects the students' responsibility in caring for the environment with a contribution of 10.9%, and students' self-awareness significantly affects their responsibility in caring for the environment with a contribution of 31.6%. The influence of Islamic ecology and self-awareness on students' responsibility in caring for the environment has a contribution of 0.343. This value indicates that the variables of Islamic ecology and students' self-awareness on the responsibility to care for the environment at Darul Falah Sukorejo Ponorogo Islamic boarding school amount to 34.3%, while 65.7% is influenced by other variables.
