Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir metafora siswa pada pembelajaran IPA. Pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif dalam mengaitkan konsep abstrak dengan pengalaman nyata. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dan mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir metafora, salah satunya melalui model pembelajaran Take and Give berbantuan media KUPAS (Kartu Uji Pengetahuan Aktif Siswa).
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterlaksanaan model pembelajaran Take and Give berbantuan media KUPAS terhadap kemampuan berpikir metafora siswa kelas V MIN 16 Magetan pada mata pelajaran IPA, mengetahui aktivitas siswa setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran tersebut, serta mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran Take and Give berbantuan media KUPAS dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir metafora siswa kelas V MIN 16 Magetan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas V A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas V B sebagai kelas eksperimen yang masing-masing berjumlah 25 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan tes kemampuan berpikir metafora, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, perhitungan N-Gain, dan uji t.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen sebesar 87,04, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 62,96. Hasil perhitungan N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 72% yang termasuk kategori cukup efektif. Selain itu, hasil uji t menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Take and Give berbantuan media KUPAS efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir metafora siswa kelas V MIN 16 Magetan pada mata pelajaran IPA.

This study is motivated by the low level of students’ metaphorical thinking skills in science learning. Teacher-centered instruction has led to limited student engagement, particularly in connecting abstract concepts with real-life experiences. Therefore, an appropriate learning model is needed to enhance student participation and develop metaphorical thinking skills. One such approach is the Take and Give learning model supported by KUPAS media (Kartu Uji Pengetahuan Aktif Siswa).
This study aims to determine the implementation of the Take and Give learning model assisted by KUPAS media on the metaphorical thinking ability of fifth-grade students at MIN 16 Magetan in science subjects, to identify students’ learning activities after the implementation of the model, and to determine the effectiveness of the Take and Give learning model assisted by KUPAS media in improving students’ metaphorical thinking ability.
This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: class V A as the control group and class V B as the experimental group, each consisting of 25 students. Data were collected through observation and tests of metaphorical thinking skills. Data analysis techniques included normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain calculation, and t-test.
The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 87.04, while the control class scored 62.96. The N-Gain result for the experimental class was 72%, which falls into the moderately effective category. Furthermore, the t-test results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Take and Give learning model assisted by KUPAS media is effective in improving the metaphorical thinking skills of fifth-grade students at MIN 16 Magetan in science learning.
