Abstract
Saharani, Adella Destya. 2026. Teacher Intervention in Fostering Students’ Curiosity through Digital Literacy in IPAS Learning for Fifth Grade at SDN 1 Purbosuman Ponorogo. Thesis. Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic University of Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo. Supervisor: Restu Yulia Hidayatul Umah, M.Pd.
Keywords: Teacher Intervention, Digital Literacy, Curiosity, IPAS Learning
IPAS learning in elementary schools plays an important role in fostering students’ scientific attitudes, one of which is curiosity. Curiosity encourages students to ask questions, seek information, and understand phenomena more deeply. However, students tend to remain passive and rarely ask questions during the learning process, causing their curiosity to not develop optimally in classroom learning. On the other hand, the development of digital technology provides opportunities for teachers to utilize digital literacy as a more engaging and exploratory learning approach in IPAS learning.
The purpose of this study is to describe: (1) teacher intervention strategies in fostering students’ curiosity through digital literacy in IPAS learning, (2) the impact of teacher intervention through digital literacy on the development of students’ curiosity, and (3) supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of teacher intervention through digital literacy in IPAS learning for fifth grade at SDN 1 Purbosuman Ponorogo.
This study is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consist of the fifth-grade teacher and fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Purbosuman Ponorogo. Data analysis was conducted through three stages, namely data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking.
The results of the study indicate that: (1) teacher intervention in fostering students’ curiosity through digital literacy is carried out through curricular intervention, pedagogical intervention, technological intervention, and directive (scaffolding) intervention; (2) the impact of the intervention is reflected in the increased interest of students in utilizing digital media to obtain information related to the learning material; and (3) supporting factors in the implementation of the intervention include the availability of digital media, students’ interest in using technology, teacher guidance during the learning process, and peer support. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include technical constraints related to devices and internet networks, differences in students’ abilities in using digital media, limited instructional time, and low self-confidence among some students in expressing their opinions.
