Abstract
In the digital era, digital Al-Qur'an applications can be utilized as learning media to help improve students' Al-Qur'an reading ability. Besides the use of applications, interest in reading the Al-Qur'an also influences students' reading ability. Based on preliminary observations at SMAN 1 Pulung Ponorogo, there were still students who were unable to read the Al-Qur'an properly according to the rules of tajwid. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of digital Al-Qur'an application usage and interest in reading the Al-Qur'an on students' Al-Qur'an reading ability.
The objectives of this study were to analyze the significance of: (1) the effect of digital Al-Qur'an application usage on students' Al-Qur'an reading ability; (2) the effect of interest in reading the Al-Qur'an on students' Al-Qur'an reading ability; and (3) the simultaneous effect of digital Al-Qur'an application usage and interest in reading the Al-Qur'an on the Al-Qur'an reading ability of Class XI students at SMAN 1 Pulung Ponorogo.
This study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. Data were collected through questionnaires to measure digital Al-Qur'an application usage and interest in reading the Al-Qur'an, as well as tests to measure students' Al-Qur'an reading ability. Data were analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests, followed by multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²) with the assistance of SPSS version 22.
The results showed that: (1) digital Al-Qur'an application usage had a positive and significant effect on students' Al-Qur'an reading ability with a significance value of 0.044 (< 0.05); (2) interest in reading the Al-Qur'an also had a positive and significant effect on students' Al-Qur'an reading ability with a significance value of 0.039 (< 0.05); and (3) simultaneously, digital Al-Qur'an application usage and interest in reading the Al-Qur'an had a positive and significant effect on students' Al-Qur'an reading ability with a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.673 indicates that 67.3% of students' Al-Qur'an reading ability can be explained by these two variables, while the remaining 32.7% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study.
