Abstract
Priansyah, Seira Adinda. 2026. The Effectiveness of the Community-Oriented Project-Based Learning Model on Reflective Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills in Food Chain Material for Fifth-Grade Students at MI Nurul Huda Kwangsen. Thesis, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Kiai Ageng Muhammad Besari Ponorogo.

One of the key factors influencing students’ abilities is the selection and implementation of instructional models. IPAS learning, which is closely related to real-life contexts, requires active student engagement. However, in practice, students’ reflective and problem-solving abilities remain relatively low. Although the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model has been implemented, its application has not been fully oriented toward environmental contexts and community involvement, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes. Therefore, a more contextual instructional model is required, namely Community Oriented Project Based Learning (CO-PjBL).
This study aimed to: (1) determine the implementation of the Community-Oriented Project Based Learning (CO-PjBL) model; (2) examine students' reflective thinking and problem-solving abilities before and after the treatment; and (3) investigate the effectiveness of the Community-Oriented Project Based Learning (CO-PjBL) model in improving students' reflective thinking and problem-solving abilities.
This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group design. A saturated sampling technique was applied because the population consisted of only two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. Data were collected through observation and tests and analyzed using the Independent Sample t-Test, N-Gain test, and Cohen's Effect Size.
The results showed that the implementation of the Community-Oriented Project Based Learning (CO-PjBL) model was categorized as very good, with an implementation score of 93. There were significant differences in students' reflective thinking and problem-solving abilities, as indicated by significance values of 0.000 and 0.015 (Sig < 0.05), respectively. The N-Gain results revealed that the experimental class achieved a reflective thinking score of 78.74%, compared to 56.78% in the control class, while the problem-solving ability score reached 77.63% in the experimental class and 67.00% in the control class. Furthermore, Cohen's Effect Size values of 1.836 for reflective thinking and 0.803 for problem-solving ability indicate that the Community-Oriented Project Based Learning (CO-PjBL) model has a large effect and is effective in improving students' reflective thinking and problem-solving abilities.
