Students still have difficulty understanding English texts in depth and tend to
focus only on translating words one by one. This shows that their critical thinking skills still need to be developed through more innovative learning approaches and media. E-modules designed based on developing critical thinking are expected to be an effective solution to overcome this problem.
This Study aims to: (1) Describe the process of developing a Grade XI English e-module based on critical thinking using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluate) development model. (2) Determine the feasibility of the Grade XI English e-module based on critical thinking based on validation by subject matter experts, media experts, and practitioners. Analyzing the effectiveness of the English e-module for grade XI based on critical thinking in improving students' critical thinking skills.
The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D). The development process carried out in this study refers to the ADDIE model. Data analysis was conducted using a normality test, a paired-sample t-test, and the NGain statistic. The research data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 25 software.
The results of the media expert’s validation assessment yielded an average validity percentage of 96%. The results of the content expert validation assessment yielded an average validity percentage of 85%. The assessment results for 36 students were obtained, with a pre-test average of 64.44 and a post-test average of 85.27. Additionally, the N-Gain score was 0.6142, which falls into the “moderately high” category. Consequently, the use of the English E-Module in Class XI 3 at SMAN 1 Slahung is considered effective.
