This study investigates the effectiveness of Duolingo as a digital media tool in teaching English pronunciation to Class X Bilingual students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. Through a quasi-experimental design involving both experimental and control groups, the research assesses the extent to which Duolingo enhances students' speaking skills, particularly pronunciation, compared to traditional teaching methods. The results show that while both groups experienced an improvement of 5.34 points from the Pre-Test to the Post-Test, the experimental group utilizing Duolingo displayed more significant progress. This underscores the potential of interactive and technology-based media to provide targeted, flexible, and engaging learning opportunities, addressing common challenges in pronunciation—a key aspect of English language proficiency.

The study further highlights that time constraints, often a limiting factor in educational settings, did not hinder the experimental group from achieving substantial improvements. Duolingo’s interactive features, such as instant feedback and personalized learning pathways, enabled students to practice independently and consistently outside classroom hours. Coupled with structured and focused teaching strategies, the experimental class was better equipped to overcome pronunciation difficulties, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining digital tools with teacher- led instruction. This integration not only supports skill acquisition but also motivates students through engaging and adaptive exercises tailored to individual needs.

The findings emphasize the importance of utilizing innovative approaches like Duolingo in addressing specific linguistic challenges and maximizing limited study time. While the results affirm the effectiveness of technology in enhancing pronunciation, they also highlight the indispensable role of human intervention. Teachers' guidance and feedback remain crucial to addressing students' unique learning needs and ensuring sustained progress. The study concludes that a blended learning approach, integrating technology with traditional methods, is essential to optimizing educational outcomes. Future research should explore long-term impacts, diverse digital platforms, and strategies for personalizing learning experiences to cater to varying student proficiencies in English.
