Abstract
Mathematical literacy skills are important for students to achieve high
mathematical skills in understanding materials and solving mathematical problems in real-world contexts. Many students have difficulty understanding mathematical problems related to real-life contexts, indicating their weak ability to interpret, apply, and analyze mathematical information critically. One of the contributing factors is the learning approach which is still conventional, does not actively involve students, and has not utilized interactive learning media that support concept reinforcement.
This study aims to describe (1) the implementation of the Realistic
Mathematics Education (RME) learning model assisted by Wordwall media in
improving mathematical literacy of class 5 students at MI Ma'arif Singosaren, (2)the differences in students' mathematical literacy abilities in classes that use the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by Wordwall media and classes that do not use the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by Wordwall media, (3) the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by Wordwall media on students' mathematical literacy abilities in the mathematics subject of class 5 at MI Ma'arif Singosaren.
In conducting the research, the research approach used is quantitative with
a quasi-experimental type. The population in this study were 5th grade students at MI Ma'arif Singosaren and the sampling technique used was 5th grade and 5th grade students. This study uses observation, mathematical literacy ability tests and documentation as data collection instruments. The data analysis techniques used in this study are normality test, homogeneity test, independent samples test and n-gain score test.
Based on data analysis, it was found that (1) the implementation of learning
by applying the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model obtained a
percentage of 83.3% so that it could be implemented well. (2) the Realistic
Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by Wordwall media is quite effective in improving students' mathematical literacy skills. This is proven by the results of the T test which showed a value of 0.039, and the results of the N-Gain score test of 59% in the quite effective category. (3) The use of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by Wordwall media is quite effective in improving the mathematical literacy skills of grade 5 students.
