Abstract
In today's era of rapid global development, English has become an essential
language for individuals aspiring to pursue a better life abroad or secure promising
career opportunities. As such, mastering English is a crucial step for learners before
realizing these ambitions.
This study aims to (1) explore the experience of learning English through
the Free4Talk platform from the perspective of David Kolb's experiential learning
principle, and (2) identify the factors that motivate individual to use Free4Talk as a
language learning tool.
This research is designed in qualitative, with data collected through
interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis method follows the
framework established by Miles and Huberman, encompassing data reduction, data
presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification. To ensure data validity,
triangulation techniques were applied, including cross-comparison of interview
responses between participants.
The findings indicate that user experiences on Free4Talk align with Kolb's
principle, particularly through verbal interaction that enhances language
proficiency. These communicative engagements contribute significantly to
learners’ English development. In conclusion, learning English through experiential
interaction on Free4Talk has a profound impact on language acquisition. This study
highlights the potential of interactive platforms to support more effective and
engaging English learning methodologies. For the next research, it is hoped that this
research can help learners learn english more effectively.
