Keywords: English Teaching, Learning Process, Bilingual Program
The implementation of bilingual programs in schools aims to improve students’ English proficiency and support their readiness for global communication. In bilingual classes, students learn subject content while developing their English skills. MTsN 2 Ponorogo applies this program to enhance students’ language competence.
This study aims to describe the English teaching and learning process in the bilingual class at MTsN 2 Ponorogo, focusing on teaching strategies, learning media, problems encountered and the solutions applied by the teacher. This research employed a qualitative descriptive design. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.
The findings show that the teacher applied the CLIL approach supported by media such as LCD projectors and online platforms. The main problems include limited vocabulary, grammar difficulties, and varying proficiency levels. To address these issues, the teacher used vocabulary memorization, English Morning activities, drilling, and intensive guidance.
In conclusion, the bilingual program contributes positively to improving students’ English competence and learning engagement. The integration of appropriate teaching strategies, varied learning media, and supporting language activities plays a significant role in facilitating the learning process. However, continuous improvement in instructional practices and consistent use of English in the classroom are still needed to maximize students’ language development and achieve more effective learning outcomes.
