Abstract
This research is motivated by the fact that, in line with the times, the world
of education must create innovative and contextual learning methods to improve
students' writing skills. Therefore, it is necessary to develop learning media that are
not only attractive but also integrate local wisdom values so that students can be
more motivated and able to develop English writing skills effectively. The focus of
this research in writing this thesis is to examine the development process of an
interactive English workbook based on local wisdom that aims to improve students'
writing skills, evaluate the effectiveness of using the workbook in improving
students' writing skills, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that affect
the application of the interactive workbook based on local wisdom in English
writing learning.
The objective of this research us to explore the development process of an
interactive workbook based on local wisdom. By integrating the ADDIE
model,which consists of the steps of analysis,design,development, implementation,
and analysis stage, researches conducted thorough interviews with educators and
students to explore learning needs. The data collected from the interviews were used
to design the learing devices at the design stage. At the development stage the
product is created and refined, and at the implementation stage, the product is tasted
in classroom learning. At the evaluation stage, data is collected through
documentation of trial results in the workbook and evaluated using data
reduction,data presentation, and conlusion srawing tecniques. Each step in the
ADDIE model is systematically integrated to produce useful and appropriate
learing products.
The results of the research show that the development process of an
interactive English workbook based on local wisdom includes the identification of
student needs, the design of materials that integrate local cultural values, the
development of interactive content, and product trials. The use of this workbook
has a positive impact in the form of increased motivation and writing skills of
students, as well as making learning more contextual and interesting. The
supporting factors in the implementation of this workbook include teacher support,
active student involvement, and the availability of supporting technology, while the
inhibiting factors include limited learning time, lack of supporting facilities, and
varying student abilities. With these supporting factors, it is hoped that the English
writing learning process can run more effectively and students' writing skills will
continue to improve significantly.
