Abstract

Student discipline is one of the important aspects in the educational process because it is related to character building, responsibility, and students’ learning success. However, in practice, various forms of disciplinary violations are still found in schools, such as coming late to school, not wearing complete school attributes, being less orderly during the learning process, and repeated violations. This condition can be seen from the student violation data at SMP Ma’arif 5 Ponorogo. In the 2025/2026 academic year, out of a total of 25 students who committed violations, approximately 32% of students committed minor violations, around 16% committed moderate violations, and about 4% committed repeated violations that required special guidance from the school.
This study aims to determine and describe: (1) The planning of student discipline development at SMP Ma’arif 5 Ponorogo. (2) The implementation of student discipline development at SMP Ma’arif 5 Ponorogo. (3) The recording, supervision, and evaluation of student discipline development at SMP Ma’arif 5 Ponorogo.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation with informants. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions, resulting in a deep understanding of the implementation of competency-based human resource management in schools
The results of the study indicate that the management of student discipline development at SMP Ma’arif 5 Ponorogo has been implemented through the stages of planning, implementation, recording, supervision, and evaluation. (1) The planning of discipline development was carried out through the preparation of school rules, discipline habituation programs, religious activities, and the distribution of teachers’ duties in supervising students. (2) The implementation of discipline development was carried out through habituation of punctual attendance, wearing complete school attributes, religious guidance, giving advice, educational sanctions, and boarding programs for students who repeatedly violated school rules. (3) Recording, supervision, and evaluation were conducted through violation record books, monitoring students’ behavior by teachers and homeroom teachers, cooperation with parents, and evaluation meetings to follow up on the development of student discipline. Thus, the management of discipline development at SMP Ma’arif 5 Ponorogo was able to help shape students’ disciplinary character, responsibility, and positive behavior in a sustainable manner.
