Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of student management in developing students’ leadership character through scouting programs at MTs Ma’arif Al Ishlah. Scouting programs have an important role in shaping students’ character such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and leadership skills. However, the implementation of the program requires proper management so that the objectives of students’ leadership development can be achieved optimally. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine how student management supports scouting programs as a means of developing students’ leadership character.
This study aims to analyze student management in scouting programs, determine the role of scouting programs in developing students’ leadership character, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in their implementation at MTs Ma’arif Al Ishlah.
This study used a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was tested through source, technique, and time triangulation.
The results showed that student management in scouting programs had been implemented through the stages of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling systematically. The scouting program was conducted regularly and was able to develop students’ leadership character, as indicated by increased self-confidence, communication, responsibility, discipline, and cooperation. Supporting factors included school support, facilities, and students’ enthusiasm, while inhibiting factors included limited time, resources, and lack of innovation in activities. Thus, effective student management plays an important role in optimizing scouting programs as a means of developing students’ leadership character.
