This research is motivated by the importance of Pragmatic study, particularly perlocutionary speech acts, which are speech acts that produce certain effects or impacts on the feelings, thoughts, or actions of the speech partner. The film Budi Pekerti by Wregas Bhatuneja is an audiovisual work rich in meaningful dialogue and contains high moral and social values, making it a highly potential resource for use as Indonesian language teaching material, particularly for figurative language topics at the senior high school level.
This research aims to describe the forms of perlocutionary speech acts found in the film Budi Pekerti by Wregas Bhatuneja, and to describe how those perlocutionary speech acts can be utilized as teaching material for figurative language topics in Indonesian language learning.
This research employs a qualitative approach with a content analysis research design. The primary data source is the film Budi Pekerti by Wregas Bhatuneja. Data collection was conducted through observation and note-taking methods, while data analysis followed five stages of content analysis according to Krippendorff, namely unitizing, sampling, coding, data languages, and contextual inference drawing.
The results of the study show that in the film Budi Pekerti, five types of perlocutionary speech acts were found based on Yule and Searle's classification, namely: representative speech acts, which include stating, affirming, and describing speech, directive speech acts, which include ordering, requesting, and prohibiting speech, expressive speech acts, which include greeting, complaining, and criticizing speech, commissive speech acts, which include promising and threatening speech and declarative speech acts, which include deciding and establishing speech. Each type of perlocutionary speech act produces certain effects or impacts on the speech partner, either in the form of changes in attitude, emotion, or real action. Based on the results of data analysis, various forms of perlocutionary speech acts were found in the film Budi Pekerti, including declarative, representative, expressive, directive, and commissive types. The findings of this research are relevant to the Indonesian language learning material for Grade X, particularly on figurative language based on directness of meaning.
