Abstract
Deepl.Com's research on improving vocabulary is crucial for English language learners, as technology enhances learning. This study was prompted by the low English proficiency among eleventh-grade students at SMK Kesehatan Bina Karya Medika Ponorogo, which restricted their capacity to comprehend and employ English effectively in language activities. Many students fell short of the school's Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM) due to a persistent reliance on conventional teaching methods and traditional printed dictionaries, which failed to optimally support vocabulary acquisition. This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing the DeepL.com website as a digital learning medium to enhance students' vocabulary mastery.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there were significant differences between the experimental and control classes. The experimental class was taught using DeepL.com, and the control class was taught through conventional teaching. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments. Furthermore, the significant findings of this study are expected to be beneficial for English teachers and other researchers.
This study shows that Deepl.com effectively improves students' English vocabulary mastery. The study used an experimental class and a control class. The experimental group achieved better results than the control group, with moderate improvement (N-Gain 0.6364) and a strong impact (effect size 1.6). Statistical test results also showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05).
The empirical results show a statistically significant increase in students' language competency achievement. The experimental group achieved a higher post-test average score of 92.92, compared to the control group's average score of 83.64. Furthermore, the t-test data produced a p-value (0.000) lower than the standard significance level of 0.05, thus rejecting the null hypothesis (H0) and accepting the alternative hypothesis (H1). The N-Gain score calculation for the experimental class reached 0.8312, categorizing its effectiveness as high. In conclusion, the implementation of the DeepL.com website proved to be very effective in improving the mastery of English language insight of eleventh grade students at SMK Kesehatan Bina Karya Medika Ponorogo.
